![]() ![]() It might be to purchase a booster for your automobile and your home. The solution? It might be to change carriers. I have the suspicion it all has to do with turning off 3-g in favor of LTE for voice and data. I have been reading posts in the past couple of weeks from both Simsbury and Bloomfield and other surrounding towns complaining bitterly about the sudden decrease in the quality of cellular service. Next town over is Simsbury, and the next town over from Simsbury Bloomfield. I live in a town called Granby Connecticut. Unfortunately I live in a low-lying piece of property surrounded by heavy tree cover. I have noticed there are a couple of places where you can stand on the top of a hill in an open field and get great reception and great day to speed. Around the residential areas service varies widely, with some pretty significant dead spots. In the center, data is impossible, Low speed, and in many areas almost no connection. Outside of the center of town cellular service for calls is typically rather poor. Home internet service is widely available, there are a couple of decent choices which provided at couple of different price points. I live in a small town in Connecticut which is bordering on Rural, almost suburban. Unfortunately, not taking into account the lack of wifi home internet service in the area leaves the area under serviced. The fact is you can put up fewer towers with lots of bandwidth in a city of a hundred thousand people and if even 1/3 of them use your service, you make more money. All carriers are looking for the least amount of hardware for the most amount of dollar return. There is far less profit in providing service to 5-10k than providing for a city of 100-500k. I would say it's more about profit margin for providing service. Lar, AT&T Community me if I am wrong, but I can make the assumption that the network capacity is based on population size. This coverage viewer provides a high-level approximation of wireless coverage. To get a general idea about the coverage in your area we invite you to check out our AT&T Coverage Map. If this ever occurs with your devices you will want to take note of those times. Throttled meaning in computer full#There are even specific times of the day when traffic on the network isn't so congested and data usage on devices can experience full speeds. If a tower is overloaded some users can experience slow speeds until a tower clears up. Not enough traffic in that area to support the cost of a tower.Issues where the surrounding terrain does not make a tower feasible. These can include one or more of the following: There are several reasons why coverage may not exist in a given area. Hopefully this information helps, and thank you for reaching out to the Community.Īdequate coverage is important, Even though AT&T is licensed to cover a particular area, there may be spots within that area that have little or no coverage. The links AT&T and other networks use to exchange such traffic may become congested at times.Ĭongestion may occur when a large number of customers in a concentrated area access the network at the same time or when some customers consume a very large amount of network capacity during busy periods, such as at stadium events, during peak usage times, or during planned network maintenance. To that end, AT&T has entered into commercially negotiated agreements to exchange traffic with those networks (and the networks with which those networks are connected) on mutually agreeable terms. Because the internet consists of multiple interconnected networks and most internet end points (e.g., websites and other content providers) are not directly connected to the AT&T network, AT&T must connect to and exchange traffic with other networks to provide its subscribers the capability of uploading data to or downloading data from internet end points that are connected to those networks. Hello Heyimpaul, let's look into why your data speed for hotspot may be slow.ĪT&T strives to provide a high-quality internet experience for all of our customers. ![]()
